On 28 Aug 1961 "Sageburner" broke the low altitude speed record going 902.7 mph at just 125 feet above White Sands crewed by Lt. Hardisty (pilot) and Lt. De Esch (RIO). The aircraft was stored at Andrew AFB where the Marines of VMFA-321 looked after it.
Back to the 1985 IAT at RAF Fairford, this was Tornado F.2 serial ZD934 operated by 228 OCU as 'AD'. Now her forward fuselage is believed to be an instructional airframe at RAF Leeming.
