For almost every aircraft fleet, being painted grey makes one appreciate how colourful they looked in camoflague. USAF, RAF, and, now, HAF C-130s are good examples. So are A-10s (we never realized at the time how bright that European 1 scheme was, did we?!!) and German F-4s.
On the other hand, overall gunship grey is a huge step up from the green-over-off-white "Shamu" scheme AMC used on KC-135s and KC-10s in the 1980s. -M.M. |

For the tankers and other transports I agree, but for the fighters, I really miss those schemes:
